PAS 124: Introduction

How to become a "Website Quality Leader"
Simon Lande, CEO, Magus

Are your website guidelines the least-read book on your web editor's shelf? Becoming a "Website Quality Leader" takes more than standards documentation. It's about mastering the process and governance required to ensure your website standards are valued, understood and being accurately applied by every person contributing to your website.

Discover:

  • The power of standards to help your company build brand, cut costs and optimise your web operations.
  • How to maximise website effectiveness with the PAS 124 framework for defining, implementing and managing website standards.
  • How to bring standards and governance together to become a "Website Quality Leader".

PAS 124: Case study

Defining, implementing and managing website standards at the IET
Nick Slowe, IT Director, The IET

With the launch of their new website in April 2007, the IET set a new standard for professional websites. It now has over 20,000 pages, published on a centrally managed CMS, regularly updated by a network of over 60 professional and volunteer editors. And all managed and maintained to optimum standards of quality and consistency. How has this been achieved?

Nick Slowe will demonstrate PAS 124 best practice in action:

  • Creating website standards that work. Defining standards guidelines that editors will want to read, in a language they will understand.
  • Using a phased roll-out approach to pilot standards on the organisational website before deploying to the extended network.
  • Supporting the process. How the IET rethought website governance to gain editor buy-in, communicate standards and circulate best practice.
  • Using the ActiveStandards Website Quality Monitoring tool to: improve the quality of legacy content; support and train editors; and maintain optimum levels of compliance on an ongoing basis.

PAS 124: The benefits

Brand consistency and your bottom line
Deborah Fitzgerald, Marketing Director, Interbrand

Consistency is the most important aspect of successful branding. Interbrand surveys repeatedly identify a direct correlation between brand consistency and brand influence. Deborah Fitzgerald will demonstrate how companies can use PAS 124 to maximise this opportunity and improve their bottom line.

Discover:

  • The ROI of brand standards - how brand consistency translates to better brand impact, improved customer experience and increased revenue.
  • Why so few companies are achieving high enough levels of compliance to make a difference.
  • How to use PAS 124 to maximise your brand and reap the rewards.

PAS 124: Delivering long-term value

Monitoring and managing website standards
Nicola Thompson, Head of Standards Services, Magus

The biggest challenge that web managers face is ensuring that the standards they have so carefully defined and documented are actually being implemented online.

Web standards guidelines are routinely ignored, misinterpreted or forgotten in the high-volume publishing environment of the web. And, with no mechanism to automatically spot and report errors, levels of compliance are quickly eroded.

Nicola Thompson, demonstrates how it is possible to achieve total online compliance through using the Magus ActiveStandards Website Quality Monitoring solution, to:

  • Streamline the web management process.
  • Retain optimum levels of compliance throughout the lifespan of a site.
  • Deliver the highest possible ROI on brand and web investments.
