Disaster recovery
Peace of mind 24/7.
The challenge
Multinational companies need to maintain rigorous risk-management procedures to safeguard their web presence.
Conventional backup solutions often rely on the maintenance of duplicate 'mirror' sites and the creation of backup tapes. But in the event of a catastrophic failure, where both a site and its mirrors are destroyed, it can take several weeks to restore a complex website network from backup devices.
Our client needed an additional type of failsafe, to guarantee the availability of their websites during this recovery period, and to enable a temporary web presence to be updated as normal.
The solution
Magus delivered a solution that leveraged on the functionality of our corporate search service.
Because Magus were already supplying the client's global search framework, we were able to:
- Adapt our site spidering technology to create a copy of the client's web presence, as part of our routine indexing process.
- Capture and preserve all aspects of the sites within the company's network, including sites managed within content management systems.
- Host a framework to republish the content, including all images and dynamic applications.
- Provide a facility for all pages to be modified and changed and new content added, during the recovery period.
And, because we offer a 24/7 managed service we are able to guarantee immediate hands-on support to the company during any period of failure.
At a glance
- Backs up all aspects of client's global site network
- Network is instantly recoverable in the event of a failure
